Before you write your book, ebook or article, you want to write your sales letter. This news isn’t just shared by me; it’s mutual among almost all the marketers. Yet, what goes into this sales letter? Here, I’m going to talk about one part of that sales letter. What I think is the pros and cons and an example I picked up from one of Robert Bly’s sales letter.

First, the outline. You outline your writing project. Well, it’s never my first step. Many times, I need to do some conscious writing to get to where I think I’m heading. Thus, if the outline isn’t the first step for you and you need to follow the same route I take. Know it’s okay.

The outline is always the hardest for me just like getting and keeping organized is as well. I’ve tried mind-mapping (I’m certified in teaching this), I’ve tried pen creation. I’ve tried Word. I’ve tried various writing software. None of them seemed to work. I was too embarrassed to tell anyone. It made me feel like a failure. I found myself always asking, “Can’t everyone do this.” My inner critic kept yelling, “You’re smart. You have a degree.” Then I began to understand that being organized is just one of the offsides to ADD. Even though I’ve never been formally diagnosed with it, the symptoms are apparent in my life. In addition, being unable to organize is one of those “gifts.” This also was reflecting in creating an outline and organizing my writing flow.

Now this doesn’t mean that if you can’t stay organized you have ADD. That’s not the truth. Yet, it is one symptom.

The best part…there is methods to work with this weaker strength. Hire out. Delegate.

Hire a professional organizer. If you live in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area, I HIGHLY recommend Susan Kousek. She has the patience of an angel. Contact info: 703-742-9179 or www.balancedspaces.com. She’s worked with me over the phone and has guided me into creating a miracle. Together we just finished the huge project of organizing 10 years worth of writing. About nine boxes of handwritten material weren’t organized in any way. Since completing the project I am writing even more than before, the words seem lighter (my psychic also) and production tripled.

Okay, let me get back on topic from this recommended side trip.

Another way to outline is to use index cards. Once I got past the juvenile feelings of being back in high school, I found this to be an acceptable way to put some order into my writing projects.

Besides index cards (in any office supply store or drug store), there is software, “Writer’s Block” that also uses (it has other options) index cards to organize a story. I have version 2, version 3 now available. FYI, version 2 doesn’t work with Windows XP.

If you use the paper index method, you can also get a choice of colors. I’m exploring this method now. The software didn’t move around as easily with my writing places -- cafes, McDonalds, book stores, in the car, at the park, on my balcony, sister’s patio, or the doctor’s office.

I’m currently using one color each for the Introduction, body, and conclusion. I’m writing one point per card. The learning curve hasn’t been easy this week.

If you know of a better method to use the index cards or the different colors, please comment below and let me know what you’ve tried that has worked – or maybe what didn’t work. Everyone on this blog will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Back again…to that sales letter trick…

On each index card, the body point section, write your writing point on one side, and then on the other side, write the sales aspect.

As promised, here is the example from Robert Bly’s ebook sales letter for an ebook he’s written on selling your consulting services. Notice that each chapter is listed and the benefits for someone wanting to buy it and how it’s answering a problem. You can read more here:

Again, I’m not recommending his product (I didn’t buy it), just using this as an illustration.

Don’t miss the summary written below the example.

* Choosing your consulting specialty: determining what services you'll offer, to which clients, and in what industry. Plus: how to find the highest-paying consulting assignments you can qualify for (see chapter 2)

* The surprising secret that separates highly successful consultants -- those earning $250,000 a year or more -- from those who are just getting by. It has nothing to do with how good a consultant you are, or how much expertise you have in your field (chapter 1).

* A foolproof way of getting leads. Automatically pre-qualifies prospects so you know the lead is good before you call them (chapter 4).

* How do you convince potential clients that they should hire you instead of your competitors? This one simple method works 8 times out of 10 (chapter 3).

* Shortcuts to writing proposals that win a maximum amount of new business with a minimum of time and effort (chapter 6).

* Choosing the right name for your consulting practice: Does use a made-up name work better than using your own name? Surprising answer (chapter 3).

* Do you need a Web site? What should it look like? What should be on it? Plus: How to build your Web site for under $250. See chapter 3.

* What to send a potential client who calls and asks, 'Can I see some more information about your consulting

Spam
. If it had just one neck, I’m with you. I would ring it. Unfortunately, it is a cloak and dagger business. The biggest reason, it’s much less than any other mail campaign in history.

Forrester Research said that e-mail sales rose to $4.8 billion in revenue last year. Whoa, that’s a lot of toothpaste. I wonder if Forrester can tell us how much of these dollars were for sex, bigger “you know whats” and Viagra. According to Dr. Phil, sex is still on the rise. Can’t verify that, I ain’t getting it.

Okay, kidding aside now…

How does a legitimate business operate legal and successful e-mail marketing campaigns among all these new spam requirements? What can we do to keep on the up and up?

There are four…

First, every e-mail has to let the recipient know where the e-mail originated. No, not your ISP but from you. Tell them it came from you. Nothing deceptive. Don’t hide it anywhere. Say it upfront – at the very top.

Second, be careful on the subject lines. If you know the recipient’s first name, write it first, followed by a comma, and then the subject. Don’t hype it up and make claims that aren’t true. And even if they are true, make them “believable.” Even if you did make a million dollars, don’t say so. Give a figure that is a stretch for your particular market. When you capture their attention – meaning that they clicked off the e-mail to your website, then tell them the truth in your sales letter.

Third, keep your mailing list up to date. When someone wants off, take them off. And give them an easy way to unsubscribe with clear directions on how to go about it. Just putting “unsubscribe here” at the bottom isn’t being considerate. People want to know if they click there what is going to happen. Many times, I’ve clicked on this and then went to a page that asked me, “Do you want to just unsubscribe from this list or from everything?” I have no clear idea of the “everything” is but I always choose it just because. I wonder how many other people select that, “just because.”

Why not, tell them what they are going to be asked before they click on the “unsubscribe here.” I betcha it might even deter them from clicking off. Tell them what they are going to lose if they do. Don’t get obnoxious about what they are going to lose – I’ve had a few that did). Tell them what that “everything is.”

Take a few minutes and follow through on how people unsubscribe and see how you can spice it up to make it easier, reduce any expectations they might have in following through with it and at the same time kind-of (yes, kind-of) talk them out of it. Let me put it a different way. Let them know what they are going to lose.
What about offering them a free ebook for not unsubscribing?

What about telling them about something that’s coming up shortly that they will not get the opportunity to obtain?

What about…okay keep brainstorming... Apply it to your business, your products.

Fourth is the opt-in option. I truly feel this is over-rated. Okay, don’t jump down my throat on this one if you disagree. Agree to disagree. I don’t offer it and don’t care about it either.

Give them true value, not a sales job. A sale is built on respect and trust. Give them value that matches their needs, not what you are willing to let go of. These are two different points of view – positive on this – always is.

It’s unfortunate legit businesses have to keep their e-mails campaign. If you want repeat sales it needs to be legal, clean, and considerate. Best of all, it has to be valuable.

Online Retail: Advantages and Disadvantages in 2021

It's clear there's a recession going on. Costs of living are climbing, along with unemployment and bankruptcies.

But here's some good news...

E-commerce is thriving in spite of these negative conditions according to Forrester Research. And throughout the remainder of this year and beyond it's predicted to continue growing rapidly.

In fact, Online Retail owners report increased sales over this same period last year.

Internet retailer Andreas Georgio, of AndreasInc.com, says, "[The recession] isn't affecting me at all. Actually, my business has doubled almost every year since I started."

Shawna Fennell, founder of 1Choice4YourStore.com is equally optimistic. "I'm going into our Yahoo stores, and I'm thinking 'Where's the recession?'" she says.

"You don't see it unless you go into the local mall and there's nobody there."

Look for e-commerce to experience over $130 billion of growth in the next four years says Forrester Research.

Their February 2008 report, The Outlook for U.S. eCommerce in 2008 and Beyond, projects that eCommerce sales will jump from $204 billion this year to nearly $335 billion in 2012.

Growth Factors

Offline retail sales growth has slowed to a near standstill. So why is eCommerce flourishing?

Forrester cites several reasons consumers are doing more and more of their shopping online:

  • For convenience
  • To research products online
  • To purchase anything, any time

The research also shows that frequent online shoppers are unlikely to slow their spending any time soon.

Generally speaking, online shoppers have higher income levels than average consumers and are more insulated from the effects of the recession. They also tend to be more optimistic about their financial futures.

Overcoming Online Challenges

This is GREAT news for your e-business!

But even in a recession-proof market, you still have to provide the kind of buying experience your visitors are after... or they won't be back.

Forrester Research suggests some key issues you need to tackle if you want to convert your visitors and get repeat business.

  • Shipping charges
The most common issue scaring customers away is higher-than-expected shipping charges.

While you can't eliminate shipping costs, you can help yourself by NOT padding your shipping charges. Avoid lowering your product price by falsely inflating your shipping costs. Potential customers will likely abandon their shopping cart, never to return.

  • Back orders
The second-biggest cause of online shoppers' dissatisfaction is back-ordered products. That's why you must constantly monitor your inventory levels and your suppliers' product levels -- particularly on your popular sellers.

Some wholesalers allow you to watch stock levels on their websites. For others, you'll need to call periodically to check their product status.

Keeping a close eye on your wholesaler's inventory becomes even more critical if you're a drop shipper. After all, you're not the only seller dipping into their supply. So when you see they're nearly out of an item, protect yourself and remove the listing from your website until they restock.

It's also smart to order a few of your best-selling items and keep them on hand. Then, if your supplier runs short before you can pull the item listing. you won't find yourself in a back-order situation.

If you can overcome these basic operational hurdles, you're putting your eCommerce business in a position to profit.

The Outlook for eCommerce

Your online business may very well be your best bet for beating the bad economy.

The dark side of seo: black hat seo

Search engines are not infallible. We have all, at some point in our searching lives, found a link on the web that seemed interesting or helpful but when clicked were disappointed to find that the destination page was rubbish. Not only is it frustrating but a complete waste of time.

To receive a good ranking, some web page designers use spamdexing or as we like to call it black hat SEO. Spamdexing or black hat SEO techniques are the use of various methods to deliberately manipulate HTML pages to artificially increase their positioning on the search engines results page.

Everyone has been a victim of spamdexing or black hat SEO. From the student who is doing research for their Shakespearean essay to the small business owner trying to produce content for their niche-related site, even the minds behind the search engines are annoyed, to say the least.

Spamdexing takes advantage of search engines by completely ignoring respectable forms of search engine optimization. Spamdexers use a variety of techniques to make sure their websites are displayed in the fertile first two pages of search results; in many cases, the pages are irrelevant and even incomprehensible. Spamdexing includes the following techniques.

This involves the practice of overusing a word to increase the keyword frequency on a page. Most modern search engines now have the ability to analyze whether the frequency is above normal level.

Hidden or Invisible Links:

When a webmaster creates multiple sites on the same or similar topic and links them altogether through invisible links. The multiple sites may or may not have unique content, in most cases they do not.

Hidden Text:

Putting text (usually keywords) where visitors will not see them to increase a page's keyword relevancy. This is commonly done by making some text the same as the background color of the page ie. White words on a white background.

Meta tag Stuffing:

Repeating keywords in the Meta tags more than once and/or using keywords that are unrelated to the content of the site.

Link Spamming:

Google considers page rank through link analysis, the more web pages that link to your website the higher the ranking. Some webmasters may create multiple websites at different domain names that all link to one another. This is the worst form of back hat SEO techniques.

Cloaking:

This technique involves showing visitors and search engines different versions of a page.

Each of the above methods is a form of spamdexing or black hat SEO, and will get webmasters who put them to use banned from the search engine.

Do people really make money on ebay?

People ask all the time: "do people really make money on eBay?'

While it's become a harder thing over the years to make a decent living on eBay, it's not an impossible thing to do.

In fact, there are a few individuals who have learned how to make hundreds of dollars a day with eBay, and they do it without dropshipping, selling or trips to the post office.

They do it without having to worry about dealing with inventory or irate customers or even other competition. And these few individuals do it with a quiet method that they've kept to themselves for years. And why would they tell anyone? These few make thousands of dollars every day on eBay.

And, they do it legally, quietly, and within the rules of eBay.

In fact, when the new rules regarding digital selling on eBay were introduced a few weeks back, many sellers have put of business selling on eBay. These people were sellers that did things on eBay the way everyone else did. But, suddenly, with one rule change, they were all forced to either quit selling on eBay or change how and what they were selling.

These people were wiped out... but not the ones who knew "the method".

The people that knew what they were doing went on making money with their simple system. They spent about 20 minutes a day setting it up. And after that, they were done. They just let the money roll in, day and day out, and moved on to the next money stream.

So how do you make a lot of money on eBay, and do it like the people mentioned above?                               Simple: they used the eBay Crusher method.

If you've ever wanted to make money with eBay, of you ever thought about it, you know that it's not all people make it out to be in terms of being easy.

It's not just about finding a product you like, and setting up an ad page. It's about dealing with overhead, shipping, and inventory. It's about mailing and dropshipping products.

It's about constant customer complaints, and watching over your auctions 24 hours a day. If you think that selling on eBay is easier than a day job, guess again.

But what if you could make a good living on eBay without going through all those hassles? What if you had a way that was perfectly legal, and within eBay terms of service to make hundreds of dollars daily with a method that could be set up in just a few minutes, and could be used over and over again to make eBay an automatic money source?

This is what the eBay Crusher method is all about. We ran a 15-day experiment with our method, and made over $970 in 15 days, using our 15-minute setup. You can see our screenshot of our results at http://www.ebaycrusher.org.

eBay Crusher is going to be the next big thing in affiliate marketing. We are sure that once people see and experience how easy it is to do, and make money with, everyone is going to want to do it.

Take a minute now, and visit our site. eBay Crusher is guaranteed to work, or your money back.

Earning money online with adsense

There is nothing better than free cash. Earning money online, however, is generally not free cash you have to do something. But there is a way you can get Google to pay for doing virtually nothing. The system is called Adsense. Basically what happens is that Google will place little ads on your blog or website that are relevant to the content of your webpage. Whenever someone clicks on those ads, you get paid! This is one of the best ways to earn money online. With Adsense, it's all about keywords. This article will reveal some of the highest-paying keywords and how to research high-paying keywords.

Adsense has led to an obsession over finding the highest-paying keywords. Some companies will charge you over $200 to tell you what the highest-paying keywords are. You do not need to shell out that kind of cash to anyone just to find the right keywords just so you can earn money online with Adsense. The important thing to remember is that the more profitable the industry the higher they will bid for
keywords. The higher the bid the more you get paid if those ads end up on your website or blog.

Some simple research on Google will give you insight on some of the highest paying words but if you're in a rush here seven of the highest paying keywords that will payout big-time if you decide to earn money online with Adsense. 1) Annuity cash settlements 2) Cash settlements 3) Antidepressants that cause weight loss 4) DWI Attorney 5) DUI Attorney 6) Meaningful beauty 7) Bad Credit Mortgage.

Researching keywords. This may seem daunting but it is very beneficial if you use the Google keyword.

This website was designed to help advertisers choose keywords to bid on but as a publisher, you can use this tool to find out the best keywords to not only build your site around but to use in content.

1.When you visit the above website you will notice two tabs the Keyword Variations tab and the site-related keywords tab. Choose the Keyword variations tab.

2.Type in a keyword or keyword phrase. Make sure you uncheck the synonyms box. This will ensure that you do a vertical brainstorm. The keyword that triggers any rainstorm is called a brainstorm seed word because it seeds a storm of keywords. In other words, you will get a list of keywords and keyword phrases that contain our chosen keyword. By checking the box you get a lateral brainstorm. This gives keywords that are related to the seed word but do not contain the seed word. Make sure you uncheck the synonyms box.

3.Where it says choose data to display: choose cost and ad position estimates. Choose a number that you would never bid on such as $100 and then click recalculate. This will give you a list of keywords along with the cost per click that advertisers are paying for the number one spot for those keywords. The number one spot for a cash settlement for example costs about fifty dollars. You now know that cash settlement is a high-paying keyword.

By knowing what keywords are getting the highest bid you can estimate what keywords to integrate into content for your website or blog. Earning money online with Adsense is one of the best ways to create an online income. And now you know what keywords bring in the most cash per click and how to search for more high-paying keywords for your Adsense site.

Internet Marketing Success on Autopilot

Why should you be chained to your computer just so that you can respond to your potential customer's requests in your mailbox it is possible now without checking your email or answering a phone? While this may seem impossible, it is becoming more and more popular among the most successful Internet marketing gurus. This is all due to what is called an autoresponder. An autoresponder is a fast and efficient way to deal with inquiries and is a fully automatic method of responding to emails sent by existing or potential customers and is a must for any Internet business. Time is money and answering emails personally takes a lot of valuable time for both you and the customer. Not only do autoresponders allow you to spend the time elsewhere in your business, but it gives the customer access to the information almost immediately.

Since there are so many different uses for autoresponders, they can be of value to virtually any type of business. Some choose to use autoresponders to answer frequently asked questions about a product or service. Others use them to provide information about pricing or product information. Autoresponders are also a nice way to welcome new members to a website or group as well as thank them after a visit.

One might ask what would be the advantage of using autoresponders as opposed to simply listing the information on the site. One of the main features is the ability to send an important message via a broadcast to many prospects or customers at the push of a button rather than having to cut & paste the same message over and over again. An important feature of autoresponders is that they send you an email notification each time a response is sent out. This allows you to track the success of your promotions as well as have the email addresses of potential customers at your fingertips so that you can easily send out updated and new information to them.

It is of the utmost importance to choose an effective autoresponder. An autoresponder should be as personal as possible and send out follow-ups to potential customers since it has been proven that persistence pays off. It could take up to seven contacts before a final sale is conducted. Generally speaking, an advertisement should be short and to the point. However, in this case, the customer has asked to see this specific information and therefore an effective autoresponder should allow you to place as much text on the page as you desire. The autoresponder that you choose should provide automatic updates to customers free of charge.

The autoresponder is one Internet marketing tool that will not cost you an arm and a leg. You can get free autoresponders online from several sources. The automatic responses will be a welcome addition to your marketing strategy and will help to automatically increase traffic to your site all while you do nothing. Be sure that the one you choose includes all the extras that will send your site to the top and your profits through the roof.

Get Rich Quick? Take A Hike! Ask me How?

Those magic words: Get Rich Quick! We've all seen them. We've all fallen for them . . . especially if we're interested in building an online home-based business.

So, you're serious about setting yourself up in an internet home-based business? Good choice!

Why? Because the opportunities for earning extra income using your computer are exciting. There are more of them available right now than ever before in the history of the internet. And while the promise of "get rich quick" is alluring, it's definitely not the way to go.

By that I mean if you think that, with a few strokes on your computer, you're going to be rolling in cash . . . well, you're better off not even getting started. Because you'll be terribly disappointed. Now, I'm not saying you can't make good money with a home-based internet business. But a get rich quick program is just not in the cards, no matter how tantalizing.

There are several important reasons for this.

1. A business . . . any business . . . requires a commitment of time, energy and dollars. If you're not ready for that, then save yourself a lot of heartache.

2. Finding or creating a product or service that you're passionate about will give you the motivation to stay the course, even when you're frustrated.

3. The bulk of your time and dollars will be spent marketing and selling your product or service. Now, I know a lot of folks cringe at the idea of having to sell something. Fortunately there are some excellent turnkey business programs that virtually automate that process. But it's still up to you to stay on top of it and make it grow.

4. The rewards are in the numbers. With an online business you have to work at generating important numbers. Like the number of visitors to your site. If no one is looking at your product or service you can't generate sales. And you won't make any money.

5. Quality customer service is usually not part of a get rich quick scheme. But, in any business the customer is king. Developing a happy and loyal customer base doesn't happen quick. But without it you're dead in the water.

So, when you're considering the exciting world of home-based internet businesses you want to venture into it with your eyes open. Having said that, you should know that there are some marvelous opportunities out there.

I particularly recommend e-businesses because they are inexpensive to set up and the good ones are largely automated so you don't have to be a technical genius to get up and running. Here's where the "quick" of get rich quick can work in your favor.

But you also have to be on your guard against scams. If an e-business proposal sounds too good to be true, it probably is! If you tell the get rich quick schemes to take a hike . . . if you do your homework and proceed with intelligence, you can reasonably expect to fatten your bank account with extra cash.

Learning Proper Pilates Breathing

Correct breathing is absolutely vital when it comes to making sure that you are getting a good flow of oxygen into your lungs. Life-giving oxygen is capable of cleansing the bloodstream while energizing your entire body. As babies we are capable of breathing naturally and correctly, as we age throughout our lives we end up developing poor breathing habits or incorrect breathing habits that take this natural breathing away from us. The correct technique can luckily be learned and mastered as we get older as long as we are willing to exhibit a little patience.

There are numerous benefits associated with correct breathing. The breath is what we life on, it is the very stuff of our lives, and there are many different benefits that can be gained by learning how to properly breathe. Some of these benefits are:

1. Breathing properly can cleanse our bloodstream,

2. Breathing properly can allow our energy levels to increase naturally,

3. Breathing properly can carry valuable vitamins and nutrients to all of the vital tissues in our bodies,

4. Breathing properly can energize our organs as well as our muscles and other vital tissues in the body,

5. Breathing properly can help us to exercise in a more efficient way, which benefits our entire body and overall health,

6. Breathing properly can help aid in the smooth movements of our bodies,

7. Breathing properly can help us to think more clearly and remember things more clearly,

8. Breathing properly can enhance our muscle control.

Rhythmic Breathing

When you inhale, you are bringing oxygen into your lungs. The act of breathing is also responsible for circulating blood all around the body. When you exhale, then, you expel out stale air as well as carbon dioxide and other gases. If you hold your breath while you are exerting physical effort in any way, then the carbon dioxide remains in your lungs and it accumulates in the body in such a way that it allows the muscles and other vital tissues in the body to become weakened. Holding the breath is also capable of negatively increasing the blood pressure, which can make you feel tense and also can waste your energy in bad ways. For this reason, it is vitally important that your breathing be rhythmic and continuous, especially during exercise.

Shallow Breathing

Many people are not breathing deeply enough, but rather are only breathing into their upper chest and they are not getting enough oxygen into the depths of their lungs. It is vitally important that you learn how to breathe deeply in order for you to fill your lungs, ensuring that your body is getting enough oxygen that your body can be energized and purified properly. Pilates and other exercises like yoga can help us with this, by teaching us how to breathe more deeply and more fully with every breath.
